One Day at a TimeThis paper was an exercise on creating an apostrophe poem. I worked on using varying tone, diction, and syntax to convey specific feelings in this piece. Writing this poem allowed me to focus on the emotions that various sentence structures convey.

The Great EscapeThis piece was a personal narrative in which I retell the story of an adventure I had when I was seven. This was my favorite paper of the first semester! While writing this paper, I learned more about how to build up a story and create suspense and wonder.

Layers of LiteratureThis paper was an application of Thomas C. Foster's How to Read Literature Like a Professor. I applied the theories present in the book to Zora Neale Hurston's classic Their Eyes Were Watching God. I was able to focus on putting a theory from one book and evidence from another into a coherent thought.

Blind to the AnswerThis was a work that was done over the summer about Oedipus Rex. In the piece, I began learning how to critically analyze a piece of literature more in-depth than I was used to. I relate a real-world topic to the plot of the play.
Downloadable PDF file below Cuckoo's Nest Film ReviewThis piece was a review of the film adaptation of One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest by Ken Kesey. I practiced using a format similarly seen in film reviews online. I analyzed both the structure of the film itself and its relation to the original book.
Downloadable as a PDF below. Dante's Inferno Baseball CardsThis project was done with characters mentioned in Dante's Inferno as well as mythological figures referenced in other works of literature. Making the baseball cards was a great creative outlet for me because I was able to experiment with pictures, color, and formatting alongside text.
Downloadable as a PDF below. AP Essay RewriteAfter taking a practice AP test, we were given the opportunity to rewrite an essay for a better score. I chose the essay I wrote on the passage Johnny Got His Gun because I felt that it had the most potential to be great. It was through this writing that I learned that I am much better at writing essays on a computer than by hand.
